Responsibilities
- Manage and process pension plan enrollments, contributions, and distributions for government employees
- Ensure strict compliance with federal ERISA regulations and California state pension laws
- Conduct eligibility verifications and benefit calculations using specialized pension software
- Respond to participant inquiries regarding retirement plans, vesting schedules, and distribution options
- Prepare comprehensive reports on pension fund performance and actuarial projections
- Coordinate with external auditors and legal counsel during compliance reviews
- Maintain accurate participant records in secure government databases
- Assist in policy development for pension plan modifications and enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or government finance experience
- Certified Pension Administrator (CPA) or Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation
- Proficiency in pension management software (e.g., Millennium, Empower)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and California pension statutes
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for participant interactions
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
