Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for government employees including enrollment, disbursements, and benefit calculations
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Florida state pension laws
- Manage weekend shift operations for pension fund accounting and reporting
- Analyze financial data to forecast pension liabilities and investment performance
- Collaborate with auditors and legal teams during annual compliance reviews
- Maintain accurate participant records and respond to retirement inquiries
- Prepare quarterly reports for the Pension Board and county leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and Florida pension statutes
- Proficiency in Excel, pension administration software (e.g., Empower), and financial reporting tools
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation preferred
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with financial data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder interactions
