Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 emergency systems
- Maintain accurate records of calls, incidents, and actions taken in RMS databases
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents and disasters
- Monitor surveillance systems and alert field units to suspicious activities
- Train and mentor new dispatchers upon program completion
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Clear speaking ability with excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Valid California driver's license with good driving record
- US citizenship or permanent residency status
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
