Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with exceptional calm and efficiency
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems and radio equipment
- Maintain accurate real-time situational awareness during critical incidents
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency responses
- Document all communications and actions precisely in compliance with policies
- Operate specialized communication equipment including multi-line phone systems
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during emergency situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (verified certification required)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing under extreme pressure
- Clear speaking voice with excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No prior felony convictions
