Responsibilities
- Process 911 emergency calls and prioritize dispatch responses for police, fire, and EMS units
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents and natural disasters
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation for legal compliance
- Provide crisis intervention support to callers during traumatic situations
- Collaborate with officers and external agencies using established protocols
- Train on department-specific procedures and Nebraska emergency response guidelines
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- No felony convictions; background investigation required
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments with emotional stability
- Valid Nebraska driver's license at time of appointment
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status
- Pass written, oral, and psychological examinations
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
