Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate law enforcement/fire/EMS units using CAD/RMS systems
- Provide life-saving instructions via telephone during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate records of all communications in compliance with state regulations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major emergencies
- Operate radio equipment and specialized communication software
- Remain calm under extreme pressure while making rapid decisions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (verified by test)
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Proficient with basic computer applications
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong situational judgment and conflict resolution skills
- No felony convictions and clean drug history
