Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls with precision and empathy, dispatching appropriate units
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate incident logs and documentation in compliance with protocols
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
- Provide critical information to field units during active incidents
- Manage stress while maintaining composure during high-pressure situations
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on procedures and technologies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship and valid Ohio driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in dynamic environments
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized software
