Responsibilities
- Process emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines with accuracy and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems while maintaining clear communication channels
- Monitor radio communications and coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed incident logs and documentation per department protocols
- Provide critical information to officers and first responders in real-time
- Utilize NCIC/FCIC databases for warrant checks and suspect identification
- Participate in continuous training to develop advanced dispatching skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments with sound judgment
- Clear verbal communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
- Must pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn specialized software
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status
