Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio equipment, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations while gathering critical information
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers until emergency responders arrive
- Maintain accurate digital logs of all communications and incident details
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during complex emergency scenarios
- Complete mandatory training modules to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- U.S. citizenship and valid Missouri driver's license
- Ability to pass extensive background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Must be available to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
