Responsibilities
- Process 911 emergency calls and prioritize dispatch of police, fire, and medical resources
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and maintain accurate incident logs
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents and natural disasters
- Provide clear, concise radio communication to field units and external agencies
- Monitor surveillance systems and recognize suspicious activity patterns
- Apply de-escalation techniques during high-stress caller interactions
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA/NCIC regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment
- Pass background investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Minimum 40 WPM typing certificate (must be current within 6 months)
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision
- Strong conflict resolution and active listening skills
- Experience with radio communication systems preferred but not required
- Must be US citizen and meet residency requirements
