Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS units
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to officers and emergency responders
- Calmly de-escalate callers during high-stress situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Complete mandatory training programs to qualify for full certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency and typing ability (40+ WPM preferred)
- No prior criminal convictions or disqualifying background
- Valid NJ driver's license
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights/weekends
- Pass background check and pre-employment screening
