Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls via 911 and non-emergency lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems while maintaining radio communication
- Enter and update critical incident data in law enforcement databases
- Maintain composure during high-pressure situations and provide clear instructions to callers
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Document all communications accurately and follow department protocols
- Participate in continuous training programs to enhance dispatch skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Valid California driver's license
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking and decision-making abilities
- Fluency in English; bilingual Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin a plus
