Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) units to incidents.
- Enter accurate and timely information into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all dispatch activity and unit status.
- Provide critical information to officers in the field and coordinate multi-agency responses.
- Monitor radio frequencies and alert units to developing situations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class C Indiana driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Proficient typing skills (minimum 35-40 wpm) and computer literacy.
- Ability to speak, read, and write clearly and effectively in English.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure.
- Pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
