Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate units
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 equipment
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical or crisis situations
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Participate in continuous training to enhance technical and procedural knowledge
- Adhere to strict confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background investigation
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions and clean drug history
