Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and efficiency
- Dispatch appropriate emergency services (police, fire, medical) based on call priority
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and telephone equipment
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications
- Provide critical information to officers and other agencies during emergencies
- Remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (verified by test)
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn specialized software
- Must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen
