Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police resources
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical information to field units during emergencies
- Coordinate with other agencies (EMS, Fire) during multi-incident responses
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher certification training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Clear speaking voice and excellent communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (typing test required: 35+ WPM)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- Valid Hawaii driver's license (or obtain within 30 days)
- No felony convictions
