Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, and dispatch appropriate personnel
- Operate radio communication systems to coordinate police, fire, and medical responses
- Maintain detailed logs of all calls and radio transmissions
- Provide critical information to officers and first responders during incidents
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems efficiently and accurately
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Complete all required training modules to become a certified dispatcher
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to type 35+ WPM (typing test required)
- Clear speaking voice and excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in fast-paced environments
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly
- No criminal history that would prevent obtaining a security clearance
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
