Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate police units
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 equipment
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities following department protocols
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during critical situations
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency incidents
- Complete rigorous training program to achieve NYS certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid New York State driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergency situations
- Strong multitasking and decision-making abilities
- Must be a U.S. citizen and meet residency requirements
