Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units
- Operate radio communication systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD)
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical information to first responders during emergencies
- Utilize mapping software to determine optimal response routes
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-incident scenarios
- Remain calm under pressure while managing high-stress situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (testing required)
- Clear criminal background check and drug screen
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal communication and listening abilities
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status
- Pass departmental psychological evaluation
