Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using multi-line phone systems and CAD software
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and medical personnel with precise location and incident details
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in compliance with state protocols
- Operate radio systems and maintain constant communication with field units
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major emergencies and disasters
- Monitor surveillance systems and alarm activations for city-wide facilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred)
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified certificate required)
- Pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Fluency in English (bilingual Spanish speakers strongly encouraged)
- Ability to remain calm during high-stress emergency situations
