Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software efficiently
- Provide clear instructions to callers and coordinate first responder units
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incidents
- Remain composed during critical incidents and high-stress scenarios
- Collaborate with law enforcement, fire, and medical teams seamlessly
- Complete all required training modules to achieve dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of hire
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph
- Typing speed of 35+ WPM with accuracy
- Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn technical systems
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
