Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and compassion
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line phone systems
- Provide critical information to field personnel and the public
- Adhere to strict protocols during high-stress situations
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher certification training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 45 WPM typing proficiency
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong multitasking and decision-making skills
- Clear communication in English (Spanish fluency a plus)
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergencies
- Must reside within 50 miles of Baton Rouge for on-site requirements
