Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police officers, fire units, and emergency medical services to incident locations
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incident reports
- Provide pre-arrival emergency medical instructions to callers
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during complex emergency situations
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress scenarios
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with accuracy
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multi-tasking and decision-making skills
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
