Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incidents
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers in crisis situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Monitor radio traffic and maintain constant situational awareness
- Complete mandatory training programs and certification requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of application
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status
- Ability to pass background investigation, polygraph, and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ words per minute (verified by test)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure emergency situations
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors
