Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units, fire, and EMS resources using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incident details
- Provide critical information to officers and other emergency responders
- Utilize radio, telephone, and computer systems simultaneously during high-stress situations
- Execute protocols for medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and active threats
- Coordinate with other agencies (FBI, State Police, EMS) for multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Train on specialized equipment including TTY for hearing-impaired callers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license (must obtain within 6 months)
- US citizenship or legal resident status
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-aided dispatch systems
