Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate emergency services
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications equipment
- Provide critical information to first responders during active emergencies
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations
- Complete all required training modules to become a certified dispatcher
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM)
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors
