Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls from the public using CAD systems
- Dispatch appropriate police, fire, and EMS units to incident locations
- Maintain accurate incident documentation and radio communications logs
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Operate radio equipment and specialized emergency response software
- Participate in ongoing scenario-based training and certification programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 40 WPM typing proficiency (verified during assessment)
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Excellent active listening and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient with computer systems and multitasking software
- Ohio residency required (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record
