Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police officers and other emergency services to incidents
- Operate radio communication systems and maintain detailed logs
- Provide critical information to first responders during emergencies
- Utilize CAD systems for efficient incident tracking and resource allocation
- Maintain calm demeanor under high-pressure situations
- Adhere to department protocols and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (verified by test)
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Pass extensive background check and polygraph examination
- Clear vision (correctable to 20/20) and normal hearing
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Must complete department training academy within 12 months
