Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 equipment
- Remain calm under pressure during critical incidents and natural disasters
- Accurately document call details and maintain electronic records
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during complex emergencies
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in medical or crisis situations
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Clear speaking voice and excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and make critical decisions quickly
- Must be 18+ years old and a U.S. citizen
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
