Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio systems with accuracy, speed, and composure.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service (EMS) units to the appropriate location based on the nature of the call.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all incidents, dispatches, and status updates in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor multiple communication channels and surveillance equipment to detect and respond to emerging situations in real-time.
- Provide vital information to field units, including traffic conditions, weather updates, and location details.
- Collaborate with other agencies and departments to ensure a coordinated and effective emergency response.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License required with a good driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, and multitask under high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
