Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service accurately and efficiently.
- Dispatch police units and other emergency responders to incidents based on location and resource availability.
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and dispatch activities in the CAD system.
- Provide critical information and instructions to callers during emergency situations to ensure their safety.
- Monitor radio frequencies and CCTV surveillance systems for suspicious activity or officer needs.
- Collaborate with field officers and other agencies to coordinate multi-agency responses.
- Train under the supervision of senior dispatchers to master all required communication protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to type 30-40 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Must be able to multitask effectively while maintaining composure under high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
