Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone and radio, utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) units to the scene of incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, logs, and incident reports.
  • Provide critical information and instructions to callers and first responders to ensure public safety.
  • Monitor radio frequencies and alert systems to identify and respond to emergencies.
  • Perform general clerical duties and assist in the maintenance of dispatch equipment.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to type at a minimum speed of 35 words per minute.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
