Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via radio, phone, and digital systems
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) technology
- Maintain accurate incident logs and database entries
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in critical situations
- Monitor multiple communication channels simultaneously
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Operate specialized dispatch equipment provided by the department
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 35+ WPM
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- U.S. citizenship or legal work authorization
- No felony convictions
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
