Responsibilities
- Operate multi-line emergency communication systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Process 911 calls, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate emergency services
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and incident details
- Provide clear instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies during critical incidents
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain constant situational awareness
- Complete comprehensive training programs to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong communication skills with clear diction and calm demeanor
- Basic computer proficiency and typing speed of 35+ WPM
- Must be 18+ years old and a U.S. citizen
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors
