Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police/fire/EMS units
- Maintain calm communication with callers during crisis situations
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and radio systems
- Document detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale emergencies
- Provide critical information to field units via radio communication
- Participate in continuous training to enhance emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills (35+ WPM preferred)
- Valid Hawaii driver's license with clean record
- Pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
