Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incident locations
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and dispatch activities
- Utilize CAD systems and mapping technology for efficient resource allocation
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques during high-stress situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents or disasters
- Operate radio equipment and maintain constant communication with field units
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Texas Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Strong multitasking abilities with sound judgment under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with CAD systems preferred
- Fluency in English (Spanish bilingualism highly desirable)
- No felony convictions and clean drug history
