Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Remain calm and professional during high-pressure situations requiring multitasking
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications and activities
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies during emergency responses
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in critical situations
- Participate in continuous training programs to enhance dispatcher skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency with ability to learn specialized software quickly
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong decision-making abilities under stressful conditions
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Valid Texas driver's license
