Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and accuracy
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS resources using CAD systems
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to field units during active incidents
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional events
- Complete comprehensive training in department protocols and procedures
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph
- Proficient in typing (minimum 40 WPM)
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Exceptional communication and multi-tasking abilities
- U.S. citizenship and Virginia residency required
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
