Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public with composure and accuracy.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services to incident scenes using radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls, logs, and incident reports.
- Communicate critical information clearly and effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and the general public.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and surveillance equipment to assist in incident resolution and officer safety.
- Perform clerical duties, including data entry, report filing, and answering citizen inquiries.
- Collaborate with other agencies and support units during multi-agency emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina driverβs license with a clean driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure, high-stress environment.
- Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
- No felony convictions (background check required).
