Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Emergency Calls: Answer 911 and non-emergency lines with a high level of professionalism, assessing the urgency of each situation and dispatching appropriate resources.
- Coordinate Emergency Response: Relay critical information to law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to ensure rapid and effective response times.
- Maintain Logs and Records: Accurately document all calls, dispatches, and unit status updates in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor Communications Systems: Continuously monitor radio frequencies and digital maps to track officer locations and resource availability.
- Provide Information and Assistance: Offer directions, community resources, and crisis intervention support to callers in distress.
- Stay Calm Under Pressure: Maintain composure during high-stress incidents while managing multiple lines and tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- License: Valid Florida Driver's License required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible for U.S. Citizenship.
- Background: No felony convictions; must pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency.
- Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods and operate communications equipment.
