Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with exceptional accuracy and empathy
- Operate multi-line phone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Coordinate resources with police, fire, and EMS units during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed logs and incident reports with precision
- Utilize radio communication protocols to relay critical information
- Remain calm under pressure during high-stress emergency situations
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers until first responders arrive
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong multitasking abilities and exceptional situational judgment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specialized software
- Residency in Lincoln or Lancaster County required within 6 months of hire
