Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls from the public and law enforcement agencies
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and medical personnel using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incident details
- Provide pre-arrival emergency instructions to callers (CPR, first aid, etc.)
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Adhere to all federal, state, and departmental protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with accuracy
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm during high-stress emergency situations
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
