Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical units.
- Unit Dispatch: Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems to track the location and status of all emergency units in real-time to ensure optimal response times.
- Information Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, incidents, and resource logs in accordance with departmental standards.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide calm, clear instructions to callers during high-stress situations and coordinate multi-agency responses when necessary.
- Inter-agency Communication: Facilitate seamless communication between dispatch, field officers, and other municipal departments.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- License: Valid Arizona Class D Driverβs License and a good driving record required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call center, or public safety is preferred but not mandatory for the Trainee role.
- Skills: Strong typing skills (40+ wpm) and proficiency with computer systems are essential.
- Attributes: Must possess the ability to remain calm under pressure, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
