Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate police, fire, and medical units.
- Radio Communications: Maintain clear and professional two-way radio communications with field personnel to coordinate responses and provide updates.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document all calls, incidents, and dispatch actions in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Training Support: Participate in intensive on-the-job training and classroom instruction to develop essential skills in mapping, law enforcement protocols, and crisis management.
- Unit Coordination: Monitor unit status and availability to ensure the most effective allocation of resources during incidents.
- Community Liaison: Provide information and assistance to the public while maintaining strict adherence to departmental protocols and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; some college or a certificate in Criminal Justice is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call center operations, or emergency dispatch is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) and proficiency with computer systems.
- Character: Must be a U.S. citizen, pass a background investigation, and possess a valid Nevada driver's license.
- Physical: Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Mental: Exceptional ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions in high-stress situations.
