Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and prioritize incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident scenes using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide critical instructions and updates to first responders during high-stress situations.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all dispatch activities, unit status, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with the public and internal units to gather essential information while maintaining composure.
- Monitor the status of units in the field and reassign resources as necessary.
- Utilize EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) protocols to provide pre-arrival instructions to callers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to type accurately at a minimum of 35 words per minute.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
