Responsibilities
- Monitor radio frequencies and communications systems to receive and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Enter and update incident reports, dispatch logs, and warrants into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain effective communication with patrol officers, supervisors, and other city agencies during critical incidents.
- Provide vital information to the public, including weather alerts, road closures, and community events.
- Perform multi-tasking duties while maintaining high levels of accuracy and situational awareness.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel and maintaining departmental protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a customer service or public safety dispatch role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over a radio.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during high-stress emergency situations.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and typing skills.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
