Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch police units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment.
- Maintain precise and detailed records of all calls, including incident reports and officer activity logs.
- Monitor radio frequencies to provide real-time updates to officers in the field and coordinate resources.
- Provide information, directions, and assistance to citizens, businesses, and other agencies.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and maintaining proficiency with departmental software.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License is mandatory.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 words per minute) are required.
- Calm demeanor and ability to think clearly and act quickly during high-stress situations.
- U.S. citizenship or legal residency status.
- Background check and medical examination will be required.
