Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio communications, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD)
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency services
- Remain calm under extreme pressure while managing multiple simultaneous incidents
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Proficiency in computer systems and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to convey critical information clearly
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
