Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and dispatch appropriate personnel
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all communications and incidents
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and emergency notification equipment
- Remain calm under pressure while multitasking in high-stress situations
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies during emergency responses
- Adhere to all department protocols and confidentiality standards
- Complete mandatory training programs to achieve dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Florida driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Clear criminal background check and drug screen
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to type 35+ WPM with accuracy
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
