Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Dispatch police officers and emergency services using radio and computer systems
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and incidents
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and mapping software
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and ethical standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- No prior dispatch or law enforcement experience required
- Ability to type 35+ words per minute (typing test will be administered)
- U.S. citizenship and minimum age of 18 years
- Clear criminal background check and drug screening
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergencies
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
